Anyone who was a teenager in the late ‘50’s into the 60’s will enjoy Rogers’ story of the Sandstorms, a group he formed with his friend Dave whilst still at school.
The Ventures, Cliff and The Shadows, Duane Eddy, Chuck Berry, The Beatles and many others all feature in this entertaining, personal account of those innocent days.
The atmosphere of the Bournemouth beat scene is well captured, Eddie Moors, Don Strikes and Minns music shops, the coffee bars, the clubs, the Pavilion and the Royal Ballrooms where many of the local groups played, are all remembered.
Anyone who has played in a band will be able to identify with Rogers’ story, with the comings and goings of various band members and of travelling to and from gigs.
With many photographs of the band included, the book is a valuable record of Bournemouth in the good old days.
